I'm a mom of four kids who has lived in the Corvallis area for 16 years. The idea for Playcycle was born in 2014 when I was visiting New Zealand and walked by a local toy library. Like many Americans, I had never heard of a toy library and decided to do some research. I had three young children at the time and was well acquainted with the phenomenon of kids becoming bored with their toys after a few weeks and struggling to store all of the toys that no longer captured their interest. I loved the idea of being able to explore a whole library worth of toys and trade them in when we were done with them. Life was busy over the next six years but I did lots of research, followed toy libraries internationally and domestically, pestered toy librarians with lots of questions and even visited to see how other libraries operated. The people I spoke with were almost universally happy to share any information I needed, and it's thanks to their much greater knowledge that I was finally able to make Playcyle a reality.
